Hello everyone! First of all let me admit that I probably worded the question wrong…but here it goes anyway:
I am about to enter college…well actually, I have been accepted into my dream college, Lawrence University, through ED, and I am awaiting the financial aid and all, but I know that unless I get a good amount of money I can not go.
So here’s my question: do any of you know some good scholarship websites or scholarships, financial aid programs, grants, low interest loans, cheap airfare (I have to fly or figure another way to get from New York to Wisconsin with all of my stuff), loans that don’t need cosigners, etc? And before all of you say, ask your parents…let me warn you, my dad and step-mom are not the world’s greatest parents….but to make a long story short, they refuse to help me in anyway, and my mother has no car, money, home and horrible credit so she can’t help me.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Ok, since you got accept you have to do is to ask for your parents income (for FAFSA) because to me if you have financial problems then FAFSA is a good way to go, you have to have your parents income or if your independent and make the decent amount of income per year then you can get financial aid, also Federal Grant, and scholarships (go ask your school)
If you need a loan (you need a cosigner or you can’t get a loan whatsoever because if you cant pay the loan someone has to, and being/finding a cosigner is risky as getting a loan itself) go to banks like Bank of America, Wells Fargo, CitiBank, Chase, Key Bank (very low interest rates 2.0% below), US Bank, etc. they will run a credit check in order for to estimate how much you can get. Also a student loan is available (which the rates are very low b/w 1.0-2.0% and do not need to pay while your in school but after 6 months when you graduate from college), student loans are better than bank loans to me
Flying? go to www.expedia.com or southwest.com (they have a special now for selected cities for $59 to $89) but if your going to take your stuff (like boxes and everything not luggages) then roadtrip or uhaul it if money?
I’m sorry about your parents but you cant really do anything without your parents assistance when your going to college, the truth is its going to be hard without their help, so try to ask for their help again
Go apply for FAFSA, Federal Grant, and Student Loan if you can
Good Luck and sorry for not helping you that much
