ACTION ALERT: Make Appointment w/State Legislator

We need your help! PLEASE make two phone calls, if you can: one to your California State Assembly person, one to your California State Senator. If you don't have their information, email Bobbie Ray brbray@aol.com or call 415-575-5555 & she will provide it for you.

Make an appointment for Monday, August 15th at 11 or 11:30a.m., to discuss their position on bringing home the California National Guard. (If they are not available, make the appointment with their aide. If they already have an appointment to discuss our National Guard, let them know you'd like to join them!)

After you've secured the appointments, PLEASE email or call Bobbie and let us know you've made the appointment. (Make sure you leave your name, your legislators' names, and the time of the appointment.)

If you cannot actually keep the appointment yourself (as part of our Call in Pink day of actions), PLEASE write a letter to your senator & assembly person requesting they act to bring home our California National Guard (sample letter follows). Then send the letter to "CodePink, 1248 Solano Ave, Albany, CA 94706" and we will hand deliver them on the 15th as we keep the appointment for you.

If you can get any petitions signed by that day, and any other letters written, please send them to the same address or bring them with you to the action. Petitions are available at www.bayareacodepink.org/actions/index.htm

Dear Assemblyperson.......

On behalf of my concerned neighbors and friends, I am writing to urge you to introduce and/or support legislation calling on Governor Schwarzenegger to bring home our California National Guard.

Our Guard is needed here in California, to protect and care for Californians: to put out forest fires, to rescue victims of floods, to restore calm during disasters. Our Guard should not be used as combat troops in an illegal, immoral occupation of a sovereign nation. Our Guard is under-trained and provided with out-dated faulty equipment at best; and they are being turned into brutal perpetrators, as reported in the Los Angeles Times July 27th, at worst.

We are your constituents. We are asking you to choose California and our well-being over President Bush's occupation of Iraq and his putting our Guard in harm's way.
