Bring Home the California National Guard Immediately
We must bring our California National Guard home from Iraq now. Of course we want ALL our troops to come home; and as a beginning strategy for both bringing troops home AND ending this war in Iraq, we will work on pressuring our governor & state legislators to bring home our guard, who in turn will pressure Bush to bring home our California National Guard - click here for facts about our National Guard.
To review our beginning goals & objectives, click here - these will grow and change as the campaign proceeds.
This is an exciting and empowering campaign (click here for strategies) - and a campaign that needs YOU! We are forming a CodePINK California National Guard Regional Working Group - click here for more information. We are forming 3-people CodePINK City Core Groups of residents in each city, town and/or county in California - click here for more information. We are forming 10-person City Working Coalitions in each city, town, and/or county. Click here for more information.
Through getting cities/towns to adopt the Resolution - click here to view resolution - getting individuals to sign Petitions - to download petitions in pdf format, click here, MS Word format, click here - and through a huge presence especially at county fairs over the summer. Our purpose for being at state fairs is many-folded:
- counter-recruitment: military recruiters are usually there in force - and we want to be there also!
- national guard campaign: we will be able to reach folks we don't normally talk with; and
- we will spread CodePINK near & far!
We intend to gather as much grassroots support as possible for bringing home the California National Guard immediately. If you want to start a City Core Group in your city or town, click here for a detailed packet you can download for helpful hints about organizing your city and for our general information packet. Also, for a packet to present to your state legislator, click here.
